Trilingual interpreters are often very isolated in their interpreting community. Once a month, if you need to consult with another trilingual interpreter about a job you had or you need information about trilingual interpreting, come to one of these office hours and we’ll meet with you. Don’t forget to bring your cafecito one should when we sit to chat!

Call for Nominations Special Election 2024

¡Saludos Mano A Mano, Inc. Members!

The Mano a Mano Board of Directors is announcing a special election for the 2024-2026 cycle. The Nominations and Elections Committee is requesting that you respond to the attached call for nominations.  

Attached you will find the “Call for Board Nominations” document that lists the positions up for reelection this year, as well as the eligibility requirements for each position (ASL version listed above). If you would like to nominate yourself or someone else to a position, complete the nomination form (here), so that our committee members can review it and contact nominees to see if they accept. The nominations period will close at 11:59 pm ET on Jan 31st.

Mano a Mano Board Call for Nominations 2023 Election

¡Saludos Mano A Mano, Inc. Members!

It is time for the Mano a Mano Board of Directors election for the 2024-2026 cycle. The Nominations and Elections Committee is requesting that you respond to the attached call for nominations. Mano a Mano is a membership organization and needs the on-going, renewed support to both membership and leadership. This is your chance to support the work of trilingual interpreters and the Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities who require Spanish language services. As members and professionals in our field, you know the issues in your local communities, and that voice is needed in the process.  

Please consider running for office by self nominating or nominating other members who you know can take this organization in the direction to represent critical issues of our communities and liaise with other national and international organizations! Attached you will find the “Call for Board Nominations” document that lists the positions up for reelection this year, as well as the eligibility requirements for each position. NAVIGATING MENTAL HEALTH RELATED CALLS IN VRS AND THEIR IMPACT ON INTERPRETERS

Then, this workshop is for you!!!  

  • Participants will identify at least three common scenarios in VRS related to mental health. 
  • Participants will list key responsibilities and ethical considerations during mental health related calls. 
  • Participants will show increased awareness of the impact of interpreting mental health calls and recognize signs of burnout or vicarious trauma. 
  • Participants will identify effective self-care techniques and create a personalized self-care plan.
