Johanna Katz-Searls is the current region 3 representative of Mano a Mano, Inc. She is a proud deaf native from Buenos Aires, Argentina who first moved to the United States to pursue a college degree. She got a BA in Communication Studies and Spanish, and an MA in International Development from Gallaudet University. She currently lives in Rochester, NY with her husband, where she works as a freelancer Deaf Multilingue Interpreter and as an Interpreter Education Specialist for Sorenson Communications. She also gives workshops and training to Argentine deaf and hearing interpreters through AAILS – Asociación Argentina de Intérpretes de Lengua de Señas and volunteers at Argentine’s NAD, the Confederación Argentina de Sordos as an outreach specialist. She also collaborates with Sordas Sin Violencia, a non-profit program that works with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
