DHHS offering Trilingual tests at reduced rate
DARS, Office for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (DHHS) is offering the Trilingual tests at a reduced rate
In an effort to promote professional standards within the Trilingual community, DHHS will offer the BEI Trilingual interpreter test at a reduced rate from April 15, 2012 to October 15, 2012.
This test assesses the Spanish-English-ASL interpreting proficiency of individuals providing Trilingual interpreting services. Eligible candidates for Trilingual certification are encouraged to take advantage of this initiative.
Eligibility Requirements:
To be eligible for Board for Evaluation of Interpreters (BEI) trilingual certification, an applicant must
- be at least 18 years old;
- possess a high school diploma or its equivalent;
- not have a criminal conviction that could be grounds for denial, suspension, revocation, or other disciplinary action associated with a certificate;
- provide proof of possessing at least one of the following:
- BEI Level I, II, III, IV, V, Basic, Advanced, or Master certificate;
- RID CSC, CI, CI/CT; or
- NAD-RID NIC, NIC Advanced, or NIC Master; and
- pass the requisite examinations, which are
- Test of Spanish Proficiency (TSP); and
- a trilingual performance test.
Reduced Rates/Application Information:
Testing will be administered at the DHHS Offices in Austin. The Trilingual application forms (DARS3918 and DARS3919) may be downloaded at http://www.dars.state.tx.us/dhhs/dhhsforms.shtml.
Trilingual testing fees at 50% off:
- Test of Spanish Proficiency (TSP) $47.50.
- Trilingual Advanced Performance test $80.
- Trilingual Master Performance test $92.50.
